Bernanke: Economy Slowing, Inflation Too High

Also, according to marketwatch commentaries, Bernanke's "hawkish" speech supported the dollar when 1 Euro was near 1,30 dollars. Is it the funtion of the Fed to support dollar exchange rates in the short term?

Is it not surprising, given the rapid growth of and eye-popping amount of global debt/money that we hear only about inflation fighting and not one word about deflation? Everytime the bubbles have burst in the past (1720, 1837, 1929) no one thought deflation was possible. Perhaps it is wise to consider this prospect now?

I can't wait to see the next Fed Funds Rate Predictions graph for June.

"Recent core inflation readings "have been higher in recent months" and "has reached a level that, if sustained, would be at or above the upper end of the range that many economists, including myself, would consider consistent with price stability and the promotion of maximum long-run growth,"

there's an easy solution. if a few components of the cpi are inflationary, just call them volatile, and remove the offenders. gotta keep those colas from rising.
