Hotel Owners Walking Away

Pigged

sm_landlord, local merchants are almost unheard of now, driven out of business by the big box retailers.

Shhh, don't tell Bill Shatner

damn, i beat the monkey (didn't spank him, just beat him). But I didn't read before posting, nemo. San Diego to Dearborn, nothing east of Michigan?

I got Pigged on the last thread, so here goes again...

Seems like a good time for a food theme.

Scone, Schnaps, you're right - this is long overdue:

Does the FDIC Order Anchovies?

sm_landlord, this should perhaps have preceded pizza, but it took awhile to generate a reasonable icon:

Squirrel!

Neil, I'm heading you off at the pass:

Got Popcorn?

Sorry, I've forgotten who inspired this one, but it seems relevant:

I drink your MILKSHAKE!

And maybe I shouldn't group this with food, but for Mike in Long Island:

Wheres MY pony?

Wow. That is some pretty big and expensive stuff to walk away from. That's has to upset someone's balance sheet...

Excellent work on the Squirrel!, Ken! A fine specimen.
And the rest of hoocoodanode as well, of course.

For the pony, let's just agree that the skittles it poops are food and leave it at that... Wink

@Kcoop,

I was drinking Capital One's I drink your MILKSHAKE! in the last thread.

But your inspiration may have come from elsewhere Smile

Thanks for great icons.

Will the banks send their "jingle mail" to taxpayers?

Hmmm... need skittle poop for the pony...

"local merchants are almost unheard of now, driven out of business by the big box retailers."

Not in my nabe, but YMMV.

Nytol

Hey Ken, can you do a squirrel on a plate?

I'm thinking spread out like a pig, X's in the eyes, an apple in the mouth...

Love the new smileys!!
Too bad my pony doesn't poop skittles. For a Shetland, he can crank out the pony pebbles!

Yes, Comrade Coinz, it was you, thanks!

Fantastic, Ken.

I'll have Squirrel! on Does the FDIC Order Anchovies? , thanks Sheila, you're a doll. Make that 3.

C

It would be nice to have a inflation and deflation icon.

Inflation could be a bag of gold?
Deflation a mattress with dollar bills stuffed in it?

Btw thanks for all the work kcoop!

How many keys per hotel? That is one big box of jingle mail. Guess key cards would be easier to ship, but you have to reprogram them to get into the rooms.

Maybe there will be sales on hotel furniture, I remember those many years ago. Great deals.

3 more BFF victims. Expensive Friday night for Sheila.

OT -- I just hit the Tip Jar, and can still hear it rattling.

I invite other viewers to look at the Friday line-up that CR has for us, marvel in its quality and consistency, and reflect on what a fantastic treffpunkt the comment forum is. Then you can hit it too.

Good evening everybody. Just got the kids to bed. Got back from Nebraska this afternoon. What did I miss this week...I was completely out of the loop. Couldn't bring myself to watch the tube in the hotel. Had a nice break though...my oldest actually got to ride his first Wheres MY pony? so great timing on the icon Ken. Good to be home.

Movie break, later all

Hey there's something I have been wondering lately, and maybe one of you can answer this for me.

Has any depositor ever lost a penny of their FDIC-insured deposits?

Has any depositor ever lost a penny of their FDIC-insured deposits?

If anyone did, that would be highly classified information

Has any depositor ever lost a penny of their FDIC-insured deposits?

How do you lose with something that is worthless?

Oh, minor hotel observation....we stayed at a Comfort Suites...had the entire floor to ourselves until the last night. No one joined us for the free breakfast in the mornings, either. So I would wager very low occupancy.

Interesting; they couldn't find a buyer for the Community Bank of Nevada.

Gee I wonder what's on their books

Gratuitous rock clip, Egoverride, plenty big apple and ironic towers of finance footage:

Sounds like a good time to hang out in our local Lakeway Inn lounge. Pretty good food & drink Wink

As of June 30, 2009, Community Bank of Nevada had total assets of $1.52 billion

...

The cost to the FDIC's Deposit Insurance Fund is estimated to be $781.5 million.

holy crap

Its not a hotel but...

Here in San Francisco on the Letterman Campus in the Presido where ILM has their offices was a restaurant called Pres A Vi. It was a somewhat popular place for people to eat.

Pres a Vi Home

Noticed it looked like they were closed earlier this week, then saw the note on the door saying they were in fact closed, and now today there is letter from their landlord saying, amongst other things, that they have broken their lease and that they owe rent for the month of August.

One months rent, 26 grand and some change, they had it in the letter. Gave them 3 days to pay up, but the place has been cleared out for the most part...

I was wondering where that 3 number was coming from...Nevada, biggest little banks....

How does a bank lose half of its assets?

Where did the $782 million go, exactly?

I think this is my favorite bank failure this month.

I thought that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Who leaked this data?

Icon heaven.

Now, for that black cloud of doom.

One of the two small AZ banks that went down tonight also lost more than half its assets. And you know where the $782 million went -- look at the stalled cranes all over Vegas...

gotta love the google image search for "dust bowl"

So 50% loss on 1.5b in assets and only 10% loss on 25b in assets at Colonial?

Right......

Community Bank of Nevada had . . . total deposits of about $1.38 billion. At the time of closing, there were approximately $4.2 million in insured deposits that potentially exceeded the insurance limits.

99.6% of the bank's deposits were insured...

$782m. Is that a lot of money these days? Who gets the Wheres MY pony? ??

C

ONLY 10% of Colonial bank's assets. Only?

Well if you lent on sfr and condos in South Fla, 100% financing, you'd be down about half right?
If you were late to the table?

Depression is a week away, but forecasts earlier today had it over Orlando.
Which, so far out, means nearly nothing. Good opportunity for hotel destruction, tho.

Pigged !

well, the uninsured deposits did unknowingly make a $5B donation to the FDIC.

In US the home hotel owner are not generating some good money so,this dilemma is irritating the hotel owners!
thats unfair and not good !Obama has to take some serious steps for the future of US!
