Can someone explain to me if manufacturing is contracting (a reading below 50) why that implies that the overall economy (services, etc.) is growing? TIA

Of course production is going to pick up as inventories clear out. That does not mean production is going to ramp up to peak levels. More than likely, it will only last long enough to fill what will be much lower inventory levels based on severely reduced sales activities.

financial "professionals" who deceived Americans and others with their sale of toxic exploding mortgage products along with the securities supposedly backed by them.
* Glass-Steagall is restored, in full, and all the firms that can't exist under it are broken up. Period.
