Fiscal 2006: Record YTD Increase in National Debt

CR - are these figures for Oct & Nov only? Each year?

The increase in total national debt 2/30-2004 to 9/30/2005 was about $553 billion, full year stats.

Sorry, typo: 9/30/2004 to 9/30/2005

It's a tsunami of red ink... and hardly a word from media.

They are worthless lap dogs.

Oldvet, yes, just OCT and NOV. So this it Year to Date since the beginning of the fiscal year.

Your numbers are correct for the last 12 months - just a different way of looking at the deficit.

Best Wishes.

Nice graphs, but the gross numbers aren't as important as the percentage of GDP numbers. Could you graph those?

Would it be more helpful to look at the relative increase in the national debt? $159.6 billion just isn't what it used to be.

Well, the budget situation would improve if and when the long rumored Iraq drawdown begins...Talabani baby, we hardly knew ye.

Is Tom right? Are %GDP numbers more important? How good is this normalization? What other choices are there? Is Chris right? Are these numbers in anonymous dollars? How does this number compare with the growth in exports? in imports?
I think these guys are right: they need to sit on some stage for a good peek and a good poke.
