Deep in the bowels of some non-descript garage in the Valley four bright guys are pulling all-nighters working on the concept - "no handout".
Deep in the bowels of DC and NY thousands of well-lit guys are pulling half-days working on the concept - "a garage's price must never come down..."
Note the incredible economic disparity of the efforts. This is not to the advantage of the Enemy.
In the words of Nathaniel Greene:
"We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again."
Cornwallis kicked Greene all the way across the Carolinas, fought Greene to a draw at Guilford Court House, and hung himself thereby.
The last week has cost the Enemy his credibility, his legitimacy, and his health, all to pursue a plan fated to disaster. Now he will sacrifice more legitimacy and credibility to seize his aims by brute force of bribes.
If they are forced to win two more such victories, we will triumph over them utterly. Do not despair; even if we are defeated in this engagement, it is merely one moment in the history of the Republic. The enemy bleeds from manifold wounds, inflicted by his own hands in the pursuit of we biting vermin.
Take the raw brutality of their efforts and the illegitimacy of their tactics and use them as a weapon in the next battle. We know there must be a next battle, and so we can prepare for it even while the enemy portrays himself as savior and victor, and rob the Enemy of yet more legitimacy and authority in the next engagement.
Thus, even by a sequence of defeats can we produce victory. Fight on, fellow Citizens. Our cause will triumph, for it is built on truth and reason, as the Enemy builds his case on falsehood and fear.

Uh, yeah, all the time. You pay an extra buck thirty or so. Don't like the service, send it UPS. Oh, but wait, you have a choice? You must not have a choice, or it wouldn't be a monopoly. Silly me.
There is a point at which you recognize that you have done the best you could for your cause - and you accept the results or choose to leave. You live in a democracy/kleptocracy --- YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE FACTS - you can accept them or not.
Concentration of wealth is a fact in America. If you didn't realize that then you have been asleep.
so that the senate could vote before the house, and the house would be rejecting other stuff they previously wanted if they wanted to reject the bill again..
Just remeber how your congressmen voted and when they are up for reelection vote against them no matter if they are in your party or not. Anyone voting FOR this sold out the American people and the country.
Vote them out of office, send them a letter telling the you are going to do so.
John McCain just lost any chance he had (and I am a republican) of winning the election.

First class mail is part of the UCC, dumbass. Not UPS/FedEx. Same with Cetified. Not valid for c9ontractual/legal purposes. Plus it's tough to compete against a HEAVILY subsidized unit.
Does anyone believe Bob Barr would oppose this bill were he in the Senate/House?
Now as for Ralph Nader - he's explicitly opposed bailouts from the beginning. He says his father told him when he was young, "You know why capitalism will never fail? Because socialism will always be there to bail it out."
Please go get up to speed somewhere else, ok? The people here have been following this debacle for 4+ years and where hoping for a little different conclusion.

Babylon remains the Enemy. I remain alive. Thus, it's on like Donkey Kong.
Comrade Misean, I don't think any country has created and sustained a postal service 100% through private enterprise. The same principals apply as the phone company, or health care, or roads, or sewage: People living off the beaten track in any way would be reamed for these services: they wouldn't even be covered. It would be an interesting experiment to run a country with no social services at all. I imagine it would be a special kind of hell for everyone but the top 5%.
The Constitution states "All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives;"
which is interpreted to mean any bill dealing with taxes and spending (the bailout raises the debt ceiling and has revenue provisions related to the purchase and sale of "troubled assets".)
Unfortunately Barr seems less like a libertarian and more like an outright plant--he supports the "tough decisions" Bush had to make. That is no libertarian.
I'll be spending my money and time to change the system. The more they take from me, the more time and money I will be spending. At some point, I may not have any money left... only time.
Anyway why the surprise this thing gets a yes from congress, they were always going to pass it, it was the house that through sheer political coincidence and an advance cascade of phone calls, ballsed it all up for the fixers.
Now the house will step into line, under the cover of the robo-campaigns.
Please go get up to speed somewhere else, ok? The people here have been following this debacle for 4+ years and where hoping for a little different conclusion.

74 Ayes to 25 Nos....
who abstained? 74-25?
OK Cantwell and Feingold are not drinking the cool aid

Obama, McCain, Shumer voted Yea
Ministry of Truth was closest with 71-29-0.
You win a saddle for your pony.
They, in their infinite wisdom, have our best interest in mind.
I'm surprised that Cantwell voted no. Maybe my letter helped. Murray can go to hell.
Schumer - why do care about Schumer?
ah, poop.
We need to take this case to the Subprime Court!
Democracy at work, gotta love it.

Chopper One, we take anyones credit card.
Guys, I think this is a vote on an amendment and not the bill itself
I will NOT be voting for Senator Richard Burr on NC in 2010 because of this one vote.
Me either and I will vote for Dole
Oh Senator Reid,
The hard times have just begun? Didn't they send you the memo?
Can anyone compete with them? Ever try to trrack a package with USPS?
Moron!
Uh, yeah, all the time. You pay an extra buck thirty or so. Don't like the service, send it UPS. Oh, but wait, you have a choice? You must not have a choice, or it wouldn't be a monopoly. Silly me.
Count 74 to 25. Not 75 to 24.
Well looks like I am half way to taking at least 4 years off.
Whats the income tax rate on ZERO.
The Day The Music Died.
i was working all day, what i miss?

Treason.
The ponies have arrived.
No pony for you.
The house will pass now.
THIS is the vote for the bill....the last vote was to vote on replacing HR 1424 with the new bailout bill
Comrades,
The missing vote is likely Teddy.
Nostrovia,
Mr. Brown, Mr. Pink, Mr. Orange, Nice Guy Eddie...
Repeal all congressman payroll to fund banks, Aye!
amending HR 1424 with this text.
1424 did not have the bailout on it before?
sheeple too stupid to understand voting
need more cow patties
No. HR 1424 is "Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008"
A great victory for democracy it!
"Whats the income tax rate on ZERO."
It is not zero. It is all the purchasing power you lose as the currency is debased. Pity those who also pay income tax.
1424 did not have the bailout on it before?
Oooh... when you find out the truth you're gonna be pissssed...
subprime democracy
1424 did not have the bailout on it before?
They are amending a mental health (!) bill to circumvent the Constitutional requirement for revenue bills to originate in the Senate.
Great win for the Repubs.
yeah it didn't have it..
this was the trick..
so that the senate could vote before the house, and the house would be rejecting other stuff they previously wanted if they wanted to reject the bill again..
your high tech democracy at work.
SR
Who is the libertarian candidate for president again?
ok. that appears to be that.
we should start getting ahead of the curve with our analysis of possible future scenarios, as we do well here.
tomorrow.
lefty is having an open bar tonight i hear.
1424 did not have the bailout on it before?
No. The senate cannot introduce legislation so they tacked the bailout onto a bill they had laying around.
Sorry, I meant revenue bills originate in the House.
WSJ sure seems to think this is the bailout bill that just passed.
Comrade Peasant Darkness,
"Uh, yeah, all the time. You pay an extra buck thirty or so. Don't like the service, send it UPS. Oh, but wait, you have a choice? You must not have a choice, or it wouldn't be a monopoly. Silly me."
First class mail is part of the UCC, dumbass. Not UPS/FedEx. Same with Cetified. Not valid for c9ontractual/legal purposes. Plus it's tough to compete against a HEAVILY subsidized unit.
Go educate yourself, friggin' moron.
Nostrovia,
They took a bill from last year; amended it with bailout text; to bypass procedural processes.
So that's how they make sausage? Hmmm
Bond Girl,
"Who is the libertarian candidate for president again?"
Bob friggin' Barr.
Nostrovia,
wow.
I get the feeling I would go to jail for doing stuff like that.
Bond Girl --
Bob Barr.
bob barr
They are amending a mental health (!) bill to circumvent the Constitutional requirement for revenue bills to originate in the Senate.
That makes me sick. So when they vote on Fri or whenever, they will not want to vote no because of the rest of the stuff that it is attached to?
The House did the same thing with HR 3997.
" Just remeber how your congressmen voted and when they are up for reelection vote against them no matter if they are in your party or not. "
Yep, thats the Repub plan. With any luck at all they may regain the House.
Speaking of Bob Barr, is everybody going with the Palin glasses these days?
If the 700 billion could also be used for mental heath, it may be just enough to treat our representatives.
Or pay for all the anger management classes the 280 million American's are going to need once they begin to see this plan in practice. Fooled again.
Well onto to the house (again). Start working the phones and faxes.
Does anyone believe Bob Barr would oppose this bill were he in the Senate/House?
Now as for Ralph Nader - he's explicitly opposed bailouts from the beginning. He says his father told him when he was young, "You know why capitalism will never fail? Because socialism will always be there to bail it out."
err, ...revenue legislation...

Please go get up to speed somewhere else, ok? The people here have been following this debacle for 4+ years and where hoping for a little different conclusion.
I don't think more than 2 posters here are happy right now.
Can anyone tell me who is getting bailed out, and how much they will get?
Popeye:
There is a point at which you recognize that you have done the best you could for your cause - and you accept the results or choose to leave. You live in a democracy/kleptocracy --- YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE FACTS - you can accept them or not.
I choose to change them. "Accept" or "leave" are not the only choices.
Babylon remains the Enemy. I remain alive. Thus, it's on like Donkey Kong.
We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again.
Yep, just like sausage. A melange of lips, tongues, sphincters and feet.
That makes me sick. So when they vote on Fri or whenever, they will not want to vote no because of the rest of the stuff that it is attached to?
Pitchforks and Torches time? Might as well, we are completely marginalized now as dumb hicks.
Boxer and Feinstein=AMERICAN TRAITORS
The Constitution states "All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives;"
which is interpreted to mean any bill dealing with taxes and spending (the bailout raises the debt ceiling and has revenue provisions related to the purchase and sale of "troubled assets".)
Can anyone tell me who is getting bailed out, and how much they will get?
Not a clue. But Reid assured us we'd all have jobs.
Unfortunately Barr seems less like a libertarian and more like an outright plant--he supports the "tough decisions" Bush had to make. That is no libertarian.
Nader, or write in Ron Paul.
Does anyone have a link to how each senator voted? I have a shit list to make.
Vitter voted no? What a whore
Yep, just like sausage. A melange of lips, tongues, sphincters and feet.
Breasts and thighs and hearts.
Maybe we should start a website that displays all the cash we have pulled out of banks.
Sign it Joe S (OH) $5000. or something to that effect with a grand total at the bottom
Popeye,
I'll be spending my money and time to change the system. The more they take from me, the more time and money I will be spending. At some point, I may not have any money left... only time.
"...we are completely marginalized now as dumb hicks."
You were marginalized a long time ago.
