All, I'll post a link to the results after the survey is complete. I'll probably run it a couple more time (morning and weekend), and then post the link to the results.
I would like to know how many of your erudite readers are unemployed and self-employed. Misery and all that. And at what dollar level of trading profits do I go from unemployed to self-employed?
Yup, easy, although I'm somewhat stunned at the economic/demographic breakouts -- I'm either surrounded by nothing but CEOs/COOs and others of the hoi oligoi making gazillions or the advertisers only want fine details about the exquisitely washed. Well, I think I'll totter back to my rented mud hovel now...
Note that the triplet zip/sex/birthyear
narrows a survey down to a single person
90+% of the time so don't count on your
other answers to be as anonymous as it would appear.
Oops. I think you need to add day of
the month to get to 90+%. Still, in
my town zip/sex/birthyear would get you
down to about 300 people which is 1.3% of the people in town.
I was expecting some kind of question about whether we liked the content or analysis.
I work in finance, I get updates from our (big) company's economists and analysts. Our guys are good. For the topics Calculated Risk covers, the content is almost as good as what our clients pay for.
When Calculated Risk covers the same topic as the general media, the difference is night and day. You get the feeling that regular reporters are dabblers, neophytes, tools, press release repackagers. With CR you get actual analysis, fact checking (it's not just a retro thing), and links to original data. Know why the media doesn't link to source data? Because it would so often show that they add little or no value to what they are reporting on.
NO ADD THAT MOVES BLINKS OR CHANGES COLOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am waiting for the first law suit over inducing "flicker epilipsy"(sp?).
I had a young air force officer handed down to me in NASA, who "flunked" out of being a BUFF radar officer because the radar screen flicker put him to sleep.
Am I the only one who understated my income? Why? I put in my planned income for next year after a cut I'll take so that I can spend more time with my soon to be born child. Cut = No more being an overtime whore.
Hair, fur... my "German Shedder" keeps our Oreck busy as hell, too.

You don't know hair until you have Siberian Huskies.
When I was younger I had one - would stake it outside much of the winter (it LOVED 20 below days - sit out there all day - bring it in only at night). But in summer it got too hot and I had to bring it in out of the sun - damn thing would proceed to pump out hair all over the house.
But I would go on long XC ski trips with the thing so put up with it... 20-25K a day, back country in the frozen back waters of the river valley.
I'm too old for that now - so have setters instead. Still shed but NOTHING like an 'outside husky'.
What Tim said. We inherited a Kitty Hawk beachhouse in 2003 and finally sold it in '05, at the top, a couple months ahead of the cliff dive on the East Coast. WHEW!! I'll never own another second house again, thank you. 600 mile ball and chain.
Wow, almost 70 comments about the survey. Must be a slow TV nite. If you guys want some help with dog hair, try a Roomba. It really helps. Worked with my Border Collie.
CR,
You do a great job and you deserve to make some big bucks for your work. Lots of free riders on this site that just want to sound off and expect every thing for free. Typical of the internet crowd that thinks everything should be for free. The irony is it's the same crowd that bitches about a government bailout for the mortgage crisis and otherwise pretend to be conservatives.

I couldnt believe what was happening out in Hatteras. Perfect timing.
Maybe this will start to become the surfer/fishing crowd it used to be.
Standard & PoorÂ’s have just downgraded 153 CDO tranches - all of them European and all of them synthetic...interesting part, though, is that while 39 of the tranches downgraded reference US RMBS, 113 are linked to corporates. Downgrades on corporate CDOs have been rare before ...just 10 tranches of synthetic corporate CDOs were downgraded in 2007
All the folks here are upside down on their mortgages, exhausted their HELOC or about to get laid off from their career in banking. I suggest Monster.com and credit counseling services as advertisers.
Mabye pharmaceuticals for heartburn, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder (to stop them from inflating creating another financial mania), and sleep aids.
I read Bonddad, Bloomberg, Calculated Risk and Mish in that order, every day. That way, I'm able to amaze and horrify my cronies with my predictions, with references, for a future in which Alpo figures prominently in our diet.
You say you want better advertisers? Your current advertisers may not be too thrilled hearing that.
LOL@above post.
Mind posting the results?
One of the questions on the survey was if I own my own home. Given the size of the mortgage that I have, maybe I should just answer "no".
could we please see some results
Yup - painless.
Um, I never visit the site, because I get all of your posts in my feed reader. So I check your content daily, but I check the site never.
But please don't put ads in the feeds.

Survey done.
Would love to see accumulated results.
Hmm...stated income, eh?
Where is my free pony?
Aggregated results please.
I stated my income at $250k so it would match my mortgage application.
All, I'll post a link to the results after the survey is complete. I'll probably run it a couple more time (morning and weekend), and then post the link to the results.
Thanks so much!
Best to all.
Sorry CR, but they're wasting their time when you have Firefox and Adblock.
You mean the ad to see today's hottest celeb is somehow not on topic for a blog about mortgage and housing issues? I am shocked!
Bugger, had to do a conversion from NZD to USD for household income. I need a raise, I was worth far more in USD last year and the year before
Please share the results w/ us
Happy to help.

Thats all? Ask for more, you deserve it. Over the past 2.5 years I've read an entire book of your articles.
In the next survey, don't forget to ask for Social Security numbers and bank routing info.
It makes the survey seem more 'real'.
Second lunatic fringe's comment above. I didn't even know CR had ads.
"In the next survey, don't forget to ask for Social Security numbers and bank routing info. It makes the survey seem more 'real'."
Especially if it's to help some poor Nigerian gov't official transfer thousands of dollars...
Hmm...stated income, eh?
Yeah, I noticed that too. Will they be getting a slap on the wrist from Judge Tchaikovsky, hmmm ?
Did it - but I think I probably drug the averages down some.
Will be interested to see the results.
I could not get the survey to function. It would not respond to choices like male or female. I tried Internet Explorer and Mozilla Foxfire. Any ideas?
Too funny Jim!

I have so much respect for this blog that I actually gave real answers, rather than randomising some of them as I normally do. Kudos to CR and Tanta.
You should see my Pinocchio boxers......buddum badump.
Wow! I renew my "subscription" and take a survey, both within the same week.
What will you want from me next? Blood?
Only for you, CR.
Over the past 2.5 years I've read an entire book of your articles.
What, you don't read Tanta's posts?
mp,
How about a lock of CB's hair?
tj, Conjure doesn't have hair. He has very long fur and sheds terribly during the summer.
At least I think it's fur.
CR, where is your recommended products list? You know amazon links with books. Does bloomberg news service offer a affilate program?

BTW I like the hot celeb ads, as I would not get my fill of random titillation at work without them.
Without them my 30 or so firefox tabs would only point to Unix pages an a couple of blogs. This being one of them.
Also, I don't use add blocker and other tools, because I WANT advertisers to fund a blog like this. Saves me some guilt when I hit the tip jar.
Cheers,

And now that I've lived through that, how about that free three day condo stay?

If te "Emperor's Club" wants to advertise here, ask them to use photoshop.
Unlucky,
Roomba's are way too expensive to sacrifice.
i second the comments from "some investor guy" way up above
Keep It Simple, Conjure actually bears a striking resemblance to the gentleman in this photo. Conjure is shorter, but he is a much smarter dresser.

Re: Survey
I was hoping for questions like,
a) how much have you purchased from ads on the site: My answer: 5K.
b) Stated income: I bet the stated income from this crowd is below real income/assets
